PA 6, PA 6G & PA 66
Nylon also known as PA 6 in its most pure form is a strong, stiff engineering plastic with outstanding bearing and wear properties. Nylon is frequently used to place metal bearings, bushings, fixtures and moulds, often eliminating the need for external lubrication.
Nylon is available in a variety of specialty formulations. Molybdenum DiSulphide – filled (MOS2) filled and oil filled nylons have enhanced wear properties; while heat stabilized nylon will withstand higher operating temperatures. Glass filled nylon grades are also available which can be used for extra stiffness and strength.
Some of the common applications of Nylon are bearings, wheels, fixtures, molds, prototyping, shafts, rollers, wear pads, drum rollers, and gears.
There are two methods of producing Nylon – extruded and casted; which are both available in –house.
Properties:
- Self-lubricating
- Light weight
- Lower operating noise
- Decreased wear on adjoining parts
- Good chemical resistance
- Strong and stiff
