Moulded RODS

Moulded PTFE Rods are generally used as machining stock for all kinds of chemical, electrical and mechanical components where the properties of PTFE are needed. Various fillers are available to further modify the properties to meet critical applications. These rods are used to make seals, washers, back up rings and many other such components.

 

Moulded PTFE rods are available in stock at all times and can be supplied in various standard sizes or machined components can be customized.

MOULDED SHEETS

PTFE is the most chemically resistant plastic of all known polymers. PTFE sheets also provide a low-friction, non-stick surface suitable for use in high temperature and have a very low water absorption rate.

 

HI-TECH offers moulded PTFE sheets, which are manufactured by the compression moulding processes using PTFE granular resin followed by the sintering process which sets it. The sheets have characteristics of a wide range such as:-

  • Wide operating temperature range from -260°Celcius up to +260°Celcius
  • Chemical corrosion resistance
  • Weathering resistant
  • Dielectric superiority

 

Compression moulded sheets are usually available in higher thicknesses. The sheets can be supplied in standard sizes as well as specific cut size requirements.

EXTRUDED RODS

Extrusion is a process where in the focus is on a high-volume manufacturing process, which includes melting and forming the raw plastic powder / granules into a continuous profile.

 

Extruded PTFE rods are made in the same way. This method is great as it saves time and allows more flexibility to control specific lengths required.

 

These PTFE rods are further used as machining stock to make various components, some of the most common ones being rod oil seals, piston seals, screws, and even laboratory equipment due to its non-reactive properties.

EXTRUDED PIPES

HI-TECH offers PTFE rigid pipes with the best quality and finish. The pipes are used in various industrial applications such as food and beverage, oil and gas, steam and chemicals and in the process industry. The tubes can be supplied in their raw form, and are also used in house for machining stock to be machined for our customers.

 

An example of the application of the extruded PTFE tubes is when they are used in their raw shape and are used as a barrier and fitted over an M.S. or S.S. pipe to avoid corrosion on the body of the steel pipes.

EXTRUDED SHEETS

Machined components made from virgin PTFE sheets or filled PTFE sheets are used in various industrial applications such as electrical, chemical, Food & Beverage, press industry and many more.

 

PTFE sheets are inert, non-toxic and non-reactive and are also approved by the FDA, which makes them perfect for critical and clean use in the pharmaceutical and F & B industry respectively. Another important use of PTFE Sheets is to separate conductive plates in capacitors.

 

PTFE Sheets are inventoried in various sizes and thicknesses for our in-house machining of components or for the direct supply to OEMS and other companies for controlled machining of components.

Skived Sheets

HI-TECH’S skived PTFE sheet is manufactured from the highest quality virgin PTFE resins. The sheets deliver a low friction and non – stick surface suitable for use in high temperature and critical electrical applications. The sheets are available in roll forms or are also available cut into specific lengths as required.

 

As PTFE is a non-stick polymer, the sheets can also be supplied with one – side and two – side sodium etching to help adhere to other surfaces easily.

 

Some of the major benefits of the sheets are due to its outstanding heat and chemical resistance. Its main applications are chute and tank liners, gaskets, diaphragms, cap liners, surface protection liners, plungers, electrical insulation, and solar panel modules.

Moulded Tubes

Moulded PTFE cylinders are generally used as machining stock for all kinds of chemical, electrical and mechanical components. These tubes are used to make components such as seals, solid and envelope gaskets, which are used in various industries such as chemicals and oil and gas where PTFE properties are most required.

 

Using our advanced compression moulding process, we make PTFE rods and cylinders with a high quality surface finish, free from stress cracks, and close to the dimension of the end product, which in turn helps maximizing economy and minimizing machining and reducing material loss.

Flexible Tubes

We at HI-TECH stock various sizes with different wall thicknesses in flexible PTFE tubes which are ideal for medical, electrical and automotive components. These are thin walled tubes which are extruded to the perfect sizing meant for such applications.

 

These tubes are great for applications suitable for carrying very corrosive and/or reactive fluids due to their high chemical resistance. The tubes are also used in heat applications as PTFE can withstand a range from temperatures from -260 degrees C up to 260 degrees C. Another major application for the tubes is in the electrical industry where it helps for insulation.

We only manufacture PTFE tubes in Virgin PTFE.

  • To cover electric wires, cables and wires in high temperature and

PTFE CUSTOMIZED COMPONENTS

Because of its unique molecular structure, PTFE in its raw granular form does not melt. It cannot be moulded into complex forms like other plastics & polymers. However, it is easily machined on all standard equipment, including the most advanced CNC machining equipment.

 

PTFE can be cut, bored, milled and turns using standard tooling. Typically PTFE is machined to tolerances of about plus or minus 0.01 mm. While closer tolerances are occasionally required, they usually are not necessary.

 

PTFE is very resilient which allows machined parts to conform to most working dimensions. Another method that we use in house is press – fittings. A part can sometimes be press-fitted at a lower cost than doing final machining to get the exact size.

 

Hi-Tech has a complete machine shop to turn out finished parts from prototypes up to production facilities. We have been machining and fabricating PTFE for over 30 years. The parts manufactured using PTFE exhibit high impact strength, wear resistance and durability couples with extremely low fiction. In additions these parts are heat, moisture, chemical and radiation resistant.
